BRC URBENVILLE TRIP 2017

another blog

On the weekend of 27 and 28 May 2017, the Brisbane Rockclimbing Club ascended upon Urbenville for a weekend of climbing, camping and camaraderie!

Urbenville is 150 km south of Brisbane via Beaudesert and, although it lies in rural NSW, it is close enough that Queensland climbers consider it one of our own. The group stayed at Tooloom Falls and enjoyed the basic free facilities and the ability to gather around a campfire at night.

The small but dedicated group of climbers from BRC enjoyed a weekend of climbing at two of the crags that Urbenville offers. On the Saturday, the group climbed at The Crown and on the Sunday, they enjoyed climbs at Battery Hill.

Although The Crown did not offer many easy climbs, there was enough for the small group from BRC to enjoy. The Crown did offer more ‘true’ slab climbing and better bolting than Battery Hill, where it was observed that the bolting is quite spacious. All in all, the group enjoyed the very different style of slab climbing that this beautiful location offered.

There were strong leads from a couple of Club members and a fun weekend was had by the small group who attended.
