BRC NGUNGUN TRIP 2013
It ended up being a successful trip, with a cool breeze and plenty of climbers at the different crags. People climbed at Andromeda (sport), Flat Battery area (sport) and on the main cliffs (trad).
We welcomed a number of new members to their first club trip and they were so impressed, many have headed up to Ngungun in the following weeks. Well done to those new to trad climbing who seconded up a number of 50m beard stroking, old school classics.
The route names say it all - Rubber Soul, Deep Purple, Angie, Sticky Fingers etc. They had enthralling lessons in thutching, grunting, some jamming, chimneying, getting gear out and general all round fun. Our visiting friend from Hong Kong, Ines, who thought it was a scorcher of a day, heat wise :) was amazed at being on 50m outdoor cliffs. I for one, had forgotten how much fun the main cliffs were to climb on. And full points to Nat. Parks for the mavellous work on the new track up.
Those who climbed at the other spots also had an awesome day according to all reports. And to cap the day off some cold beers at the local pub. A perfect days climbing all in all.
